This opportunity is suitable for either someone who had to have a kidney transplant at a young age (under 18 years) or a parent/guardian with a child who has undergone a kidney transplant or is on the kidney transplant waiting list.
We would like to invite them to join the Trial Steering Committee (TSC) of the PLUTO study as an additional independent member, either as a parent representative or patient representative; PLUTO is a paediatric kidney transplant clinical trial which is sponsored by Great Ormond Street Hospital and funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The role of the TSC is to safeguard the well-being of patients and monitor overall conduct of this trial e.g. organisation and implementation of trial protocol. It also provides advice through its independent Chair and is responsible for making executive decisions about the trial. Lay members are involved in the decision-making process.
The TSC meetings are currently being held online, at least once a year. The next meeting is scheduled for the 28th of September 2021. There is no formal training, but the PLUTO team will explain what is expected from them and provide guidance as appropriate. All members of the TSC must sign a joint agreement and declare in writing any competing interests.
TSC meetings are one hour long and take place at least once a year for the duration of the study. The study is expected to finish in February 2023, but may require an extension (a total of 144 patients in the UK need to be recruited into the study).
The majority of study meetings are now taking place via video call, but travel costs will be covered for any face-to-face meetings. Lay members of this TSC will receive a stipend payment (£150) for their attendance at each TSC meeting.
If you would like to join the Trial Steering Committee, please contact Fotini Kaloyirou via email email@example.com by August 24th 2021.
