Calciphylaxis patient experience study

Prof Smeeta Sinha and Dr Sharon Huish are looking to identify patients with (or who have had) calciphylaxis for a new study evaluating patient experiences.

They would like to hear from people who are:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Have a current or previous (within the past 3 years) diagnosis of calciphylaxis – or carer/relative.
  • Are willing, and able, to participate in an interview (in-person, over the phone, or via video call)

What’s involved?
We will be conducting interviews with people with calciphylaxis (or their relatives/carers) to better understand the lived experience of this condition. Specifically, the research study will investigate how people felt about their diagnosis, experience of treatments, and interaction with healthcare teams. We will investigate what support was offered to those with calciphylaxis and identify areas requiring improvement. The hope is this research will lead to increased awareness and better patient services and care.

How to get involved
Eligible patients or family members are invited to contact the study team directly by emailing drrc@nca.nhs.uk.
